A huge thank you to M&Y maintenance and Construction who have donated £1000 and ten bundles of winter clothing for our Wrap Up Wigan campaign.
M&Y are committed to generating social value and Abbie Kelly, New Business and Support Services Manager explains why the decision was made to support The Brick, this year.
Abbie Kelly, New Business and Support Services Manager at M&Y Maintenance and Construction said: “At M&Y we are passionate about leaving a lasting social impact on all projects, no matter how big or small. We are thrilled to be working with The Brick, an organisation that provides a safe, solid building block for people in crisis and hope our donations make a difference to the lives of those involved. We hope to maintain a great relationship with The Brick moving forward and support future campaigns such as the ‘Wrap up Wigan’ campaign whenever we can.”
The Brick has faced unprecedented demand for its services throughout the pandemic, with this demand continuing to increase due to the ending of Universal Credit and surging energy prices, which combined has meant that even more individuals and families, in the borough, will be facing poverty, this winter.
Explaining why the charity continues to need donations from local businesses, The Brick CEO, Louise Green, said: “We couldn’t continue to support our community with the many services we provide, without the help and support of local businesses like M&Y Maintenance and Construction. We are extremely grateful for their kind donation of £1,000, which will go towards the continued support of families in poverty and debt crisis.”
The charity launched its ‘Wrap up Wigan’ campaign in September, to encourage the community to donate coats, socks, and winter woollies to The Brick, for people in need of warm clothes this winter.
Louise continues: “For M&Y Maintenance and Construction to not only donate such a generous amount of cash to The Brick, but for their staff to donate so many coats and winter woollies is extremely humbling and will help families and individuals sleeping rough stay that bit warmer as we head into winter. I want to thank everyone at M&Y Maintenance and Construction for their support. We couldn’t do what we do without you.”
