Clients and staff from The Brick were invited to the Wigan Athletic training centre for a special Christmas dinner with the players and management team.
The Brick’s representatives were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the facility before enjoying a festive lunch with the players.
The aim of the partnership between Wigan Athletic and The Brick is to raise £100,000 to buy The Brick Works facility, which is a centre that offers training to increase the employment opportunities for unemployed people.
Garry Colsey, service user of The Brick, said: “It’s been an absolutely fantastic day, the players and management team and club staff were so welcoming and were brilliant with us all. It is something I’ll never forget.”
Latics boss Paul Cook said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, but we sometimes take the smaller things for granted so it’s been a wonderful day for us as a club and we were delighted to be able to spend time with service users from The Brick.”
