Help us get a wood burning stove installed to warm up the pretty chilly BrickWorks and make a huge difference in the cafe – somewhere to escape the winter, connect with the community and thaw out!
Our BrickWorks premises on Hodson Street, Wigan has a small café that feeds those in need and our volunteer and client workforce; it also attracts a small number of patrons and passersby. The BrickWorks is looking to renovate their existing café and make this a real community hub, helping those most at need in our community is our priority. Dottie’s @ Lock 87 Café will be a modern, stylish café that delivers quality food and will be commercially viable to help generate vital funds for our cause. All the work we do will be done in house by our talented mentors, clients and volunteers.
Due to our existing work delivering bicycle maintenance, the number of cyclist patrons and our proximity to the canals, the café will be designed with a cycling theme and will be called Lock 87 as that is the canal lock adjacent to the BrickWorks.
The first thing we need to do is to get a wood burning stove installed as it is currently pretty chilly in the BrickWorks. We think it will make a huge difference in the cafe – somewhere to escape the winter and thaw out (whether you’re on a bike or not!). We also think it will be a great feature for the BrickWorks as a whole; it will be a much warmer place for our clients, mentors and volunteers to work and will draw more people in to see the great work underway here.
We need your help. We need to raise £2000 and we’re asking for you to help us get off the ground and to make the café toasty and warm and welcoming. Any amount is welcome and can be donated via our JustGiving page or by contacting giving@thebrick.org.uk
As soon as this is installed we’ll be open ready to serve you great sandwiches and scrummy bacon butties, not to mention amazing cakes! Could you help us to make the café a reality? Thanks so much!
