The Multibank Northwest at The Brick redistributes surplus and donated goods from businesses to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship across the region. By providing essential everyday items, including bedding, clothing, toiletries, cleaning products and household essentials. We help ease the financial pressure on households forced to choose between life’s basic necessities.
Poverty remains one of the biggest challenges facing communities across the Northwest. Around one in three children in the region are growing up in poverty, with many families struggling to afford everyday essentials despite being in work.
Poverty is about more than income. It is the lack of access to the basic essentials that enable people to live with dignity, maintain good health and participate fully in society. No one should have to go without clean bedding, warm clothing, toiletries or the everyday items that many of us take for granted.
Our Multibank model offers a practical, sustainable solution. Businesses donate high-quality surplus stock that might otherwise go to waste, and we redistribute these goods through a trusted network of charities, schools, health professionals and social care organisations that work directly with people in need. This approach not only reduces waste but also ensures essential items reach those who need them most, strengthening communities while creating positive social and environmental impact across the Northwest.
A Social Return on Investment Study (Link to SROI Study) was published in 2024 which found that for every £1 invested there is a £5.01 return. The study identified the following impact on families supported through this project:
43% said the support helped them avoid a crisis situation.
86% said it reduced their stress and anxiety.
81% said it improved their confidence and wellbeing.
98% increased their financial wellbeing.
71% improved their outlook on life.
73% led to better family relationships.
