Businesses from across the region came together for another hugely successful Armstrong Nield Cup, raising an estimated £15,000 for Wigan charity The Brick while enjoying a day of football, networking and fundraising.
Held at Manchester City Training Ground this month, the annual charity tournament saw 10 teams compete in sweltering conditions, with Amazon emerging as this year’s champions after a fantastic day of competition.
The event, organised by Armstrong Nield, has now raised more than £65,000 for The Brick and other charities over the past four years, with this year’s fundraising total expected to reach around £15,000.
The Brick has been Armstrong Nield’s chosen charity for the third consecutive year, with funds helping the charity continue its work supporting local people experiencing poverty, homelessness and financial hardship.
Carl Nield, Director at Armstrong Nield, said: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting The Brick once again. It’s looking like we’ll be able to donate around £15,000 from this year’s event, meaning that over the four years we’ve been running the Armstrong Nield Cup we have raised more than £65,000 for charity.
“The Armstrong Nield Cup is always a fantastic event. It brings together our clients, business connections and friends to support a truly worthwhile cause while enjoying some friendly competition.
“Thank you to everybody who continues to support us year after year. Congratulations to Amazon on becoming this year’s champions, and a massive thank you to Alex Leigh from Manchester City, who once again helped us create such a brilliant event. We simply couldn’t do it without the support of everyone involved.”
Keely Dalfen, Chief Executive of The Brick, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Carl Nield and everyone at Armstrong Nield for choosing The Brick as their charity partner for a third consecutive year. Their commitment to supporting our work is nothing short of extraordinary.
“To raise an estimated £15,000 through one event is an incredible achievement and one that will make a genuine difference to people in our community who are facing poverty, homelessness and financial hardship.
“We’re also hugely thankful to every business that took part, everyone who donated, the volunteers who made the day possible, and to Amazon for their well-deserved victory. The generosity and community spirit shown throughout the day was inspiring.”
With another successful year complete, organisers are already looking ahead to the 2027 Armstrong Nield Cup, continuing a fundraising legacy that has now generated more than £65,000 for charitable causes.
